Debacle's Top 5 WWE Superstars of 2010

Honorable Mentions: Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton

5) Kane
Kane finally got his!

After finally getting  a well deserved title run with the World Heavyweight Championship (13 years!), not only did Kane keep the title from July to December but he was the longest running World champ in the last couple years and he actually won his feud with The Undertaker. Beating him 3 times in a row!

4) Sheamus
Razor's edge!!!

Sheamus started the year off as WWE Champion, which in many eyes (including myself), he did not deserve. I only say that because I don’t believe that he was as developed as he is now. Over the past year, Sheamus put Triple H on the shelf, won back the Championship, stayed a dominant force in the WWE and just won the King of the Ring. Kudos!

3) Wade Barret/ Nexus
Not quite the nWo, but good for today's WWE

Something completely new and fresh, the rookies that got zero respect joined together to form a dominant group, the Nexus, that nobody was able to stop (for 6 months). Strength in numbers, but the winner of NXT, Wade Barret, definitely deserved that win and became the leader of Nexus. Nexus would be nothing without Barret and vice versa.  He did not win any championships but he was in most of the main events from August to the end of the year. He will only get better from here.

2) The Miz
The real world never thought this would happen

Miz has a formula that seems a bit forgotten these days. Being so despised and annoying that people want to see you lose but you keep coming out on top. Miz won the Money in the Bank in July and in November, cashed it in to win the WWE Championship. He is great on the mic and his wrestling skills have actually developed quite well over the past couple years. The WWE is happy that he is doing a lot of media appearances celebrating his WWE title win. It will be interesting to see if they will let The Miz hold the WWE Championship until Wrestlemania 27.

1)  CM Punk

Yes Kids, boo the man that wears a D.A.R.E. T-shirt

It’s funny that someone who has a very positive message is considered a villain. CM Punk is straight edge. He does not put any drugs or alcohol in his body but boasts about it in a manner that makes people dislike him. “Straight edge means I’m better than you!” while a guy with a beer in his hand, boos him in the crowd. Nobody likes to be told that what they do is wrong. He also created the Straight Edge Society, a group of individuals that were “saved” by CM Punk, which recently came to an end in September. CM Punk grew a beard and became very “messiah” like. A great example of this is when, at a non-televised event, an old woman in the crowd slapped CM Punk and said “You’re not Jesus!” in which Punk replied, “I forgive you.” GOLDEN!!!  The S.E.S was very cult like, in which Punk “brainwashed” them to do his dirty work. In October, CM Punk was sidelined with an injury. He had been doing some great commentary on NXT and the decision was made to put him on RAW. Besides pointing out the obvious (which Lawler and Cole do not do) he has a lot of inside jokes in which you have to be a wrestling fan to know or understand. He definitely solidified a commentary career when the day comes for him to retire years from now. Punk has been cleared to wrestle again and it looks like he will start 2011 on a high note by feuding with the WWE’s biggest star, John Cena and literally while writing this, he became the new leader of the Nexus! Despite not winning any championships in 2010, Punk has always been an A+ wrestler, and is definitely the best heel (villain) in the WWE (Miz a very close second). Need an example? Here you go:
